Mr Blackburn was simply amazing - right from our first meeting, to the last consultation. He has always been kind, patient, professional, and always has his patients interests at heart. So much so in fact, he gives out his personal number to patients so we can contact him anytime. I once messaged him about a concern at 10pm and he responded immediately! I am beyond thrilled with my results and my only complaint is with myself in that I should have gotten this done sooner! Mr Blackburn also used gentle words such as "happy weight" whenever we spoke and didn't discriminate based on BMI. I felt very well looked after throughout the entire process. As the NHS refused to remove 7 cysts from my head, I was forced to seek assistance from the private sector. I came across the New Victoria hospital in Kingston upon Thames, after undertaking online searches. I decided to pursue the minor surgery required via the New Victoria, and am very glad I did so. The whole process from booking an appointment for assessment, to the removal of stitches, was easily accomplished, within a space of 6 weeks. Mr Blackburn performed the surgery, and was very professional, polite, pleasant and supportive, as were his staff and the hospital. The procedure was clearly explained to me, and a plan of action made. Everything went smoothly, and Mr Blackburn was not even phased by the stubbornness of some of the cysts that belied their depth and size. Upon reflection, if I knew of anybody wanting to undertake a similar surgery as my own, I would certainly recommend an approach to Mr Blackburn, at the New Victoria.

I am so pleased with the results of a recent breast reduction with Mr Adam Blackburn. During my appointments Mr Blackburn put me at ease by listening fully & taking time to explain the process and the results. I recently had a breast augmentation with Adam. After speaking through a few different options which were explained in depth, I felt like I was thoroughly listened to at all times all whilst explaining in detail, he very clearly had my best interests at the forefront of his mind during all of my consultations. I booked my surgery for the beginning of this year and felt so comfortable the whole time, no pre op nerves at all which surprised me however that was clearly due to my confidence in Adam. I am now 9 weeks post op and am over the moon with my results so far! I have luckily had no problems during my recovery at all but knowing I could send Adam a message at anytime with any concerns was extremely reassuring. Mr Blackburn is a true artist and engineer in his field. I had a breast reduction with Adam in Nov 2024 and, from my first consultation one year before the operation, he provided realistic goals and explained things in simple terms, without technical jargon to be confused by. I lost 5 stone in that year and it made a huge difference to my end result and recovery too. Adam was always on hand for any questions or appointments afterwards. Mr. Blackburn performed a breast reduction for me. He is a wonderful surgeon. Calm and patient, quietly humerous, approachable and contactable. He explained everything clearly, and the whole process was smooth and trouble free. My scars are healing perfectly, and the recovery process unfolded exactly as he said it would. The staff at the New Victoria (faultless!) where I had my operation were effusive in their praises when he wasn’t in the room. I am so happy with the results. I am still curvy, but on a manageable scale! My clothes fit, I feel better about my posture, and my shoulders and back no longer ache. Obviously it’s an operation that you should consider carefully, given your own circumstances, but I would a/ heartily recommend it and b/ absolutely recommend Mr. Blackburn. |

I have no hesitation in recommending Adam Blackburn, he has successfully performed three different procedures for me following my left side mastectomy and treatment for breast cancer:
1) DIEP reconstruction left breast. Prior to this operation I attended a talk by Restore Breast Cancer Reconstruction at Queen Victoria Hospital as suggested by Mr Blackburn. This was extremely helpful in making up my mind whether to proceed as I was daunted by surgery. Lots of practical advice combined with a show and tell from ladies who had already undergone DIEP or other types of breast reconstruction was invaluable. Mr Blackburn was equally informative and reassuring beforehand, he clearly explained the procedure and I felt confident in going ahead with many of my concerns alleviated. My surgery involved the added complication of an existing hernia which was successfully repaired at the same time. I received excellent aftercare from Mr Blackburn and his team and made a good recovery.
2) Reduction of right breast. Mr Blackburn then performed further surgery to achieve symmetry. This went extremely smoothly with fantastic results.
3) Liposuction of left breast. My final procedure for some minor adjustments which I felt comfortable having without general anaesthetic as I knew I was in safe hands. My experience has been extremely positive including follow up appointments. My scars have healed well and the results are very natural looking. Mr Blackburn’s approach throughout was respectful and considerate. He was always professional and kind with no pressure to proceed. I feel fortunate to have had the benefit of his expertise and understanding. He made the reality of dealing with this type of surgery as smooth as it could be. I am delighted to be able to wear normal bras again as I had been completely flat on my left side following my mastectomy. Whilst Mr Blackburn gave me a good idea of what could be achieved by surgery the results far exceeded my expectations. My breast consultant is equally impressed.

Words can't describe how amazing Dr Blackburn has been from start to finish. I went to the initial consultation with a firm plan of what I wanted and he listened but advised something different, which I didn't want to hear at first. I'm so glad I listened to him as the results are incredible and it shows when you have a surgeon with his level of experience and integrity, he could have easily taken the opportunity to charge for surgery that I was probably not best suited to having and he didn't. The process from start to finish was so smooth with Dr Blackburn providing information and reassurance the whole way through. The surgery itself went completely without issue with the scarring looking neat and minimal. I can't fault Dr Blackburn's bedside manner or care and attention with me especially how responsive he has been to all of my silly questions. The follow-up assessments and after-care have also been at the same high standard and I would strongly recommend Dr Blackburn to anyone thinking about Breast surgery and/or Abdominoplasty surgery.

After a previous surgery on my forehead by another doctor I was left with an awful deep and wide scar that really impacted me day to day. I did go back to my original doctor who wouldn't treat me as in his own words "it would be made worse". I consulted with Adam who was very realistic about expectations and outcomes which I hugely appreciated. I decided that any improvement at all was worth the try and I am so, so glad that decision was made. My scar is now barely noticable and a 90% improvement from what I walked in with. I feel like me again and don't have an obvious scar in the middle of my forehead anymore. I don't need to hide it with makeup or use hairstyles to hide it. I am beyond grateful for Adam and his team and I could not have imagined having as good of a result as I have, the procedure far exceeded my expectations. After care advice provided, the experience was everything my first doctor was not! Not all doctors are the same and I wish I'd found Adam in the first place, very professional, realistic, honest and incredibly skilled. I have only high praise and a lot to thank Adam and team for. Mr Blackburn is extremely professional and kind. My implants were 25 years old. There were ruptures inside and outside the capsules. I wanted to have both of them removed and replaced. The calcification was very close to my ribs - at less than 3mm in some areas, so the surgery he performed was tricky and delicate. The anaesthetist he works with is absolutely wonderful. Mr. Blackburn was available for any questions during my recovery and willing to see me if I was worried about anything. It takes weeks to be back to normal after a procedure like this and it was incredibly important for me to have people around to care for me. It has been nearly 8 weeks since my surgery, the scars are healing well and starting to disappear. My breasts look natural and they feel beautifully soft. I cannot recommend Mr Blackburn enough. He communicates clearly and he was never in a rush when I saw him; he was always in a good mood and ready to smile and put me at ease. I have had several surgeries performed by Mr Blackburn following a left breast mastectomy; a removal of a breast expander, capsulectomy and DIEP flap, then a year later, nipple reconstruction, right symmetrising breast reduction and lipomodelling of the left breast. What cancer took away, Mr Blackburn has well and truly replaced. His expertise and skill in recreating my breast is phenominal and I am no longer reminded of breast cancer, every time I dress. What helped throughout, was Mr Blackburn's kind and caring manner. He always put me at ease and never let me leave without answering all of my questions and concerns. This support continued well beyond the operations - I was able to contact him at any time for reassurance regarding how things were healing etc. I never felt I was alone during the process or worried about how things were proceeding. Mr Blackburn is an amazing surgeon. I am so pleased he was my surgeon. Initial consultation - He listened to what I wanted to achieve and showed me tons of pre and post photos. He has tremendous experience and has worked on all body types and therefore has a great perspective of what is surgically possible and would have the best outcome in the long term. Being 6 months post op (breast reduction and tummy tuck), I can now relate to what he was saying in the initial consultation. Surgery - I was very stressed about being under GA and he took time to calm me. He goes to great lengths to explain things and his calm, kind manner is very reassuring. I had my surgery late into the evening and I saw him soon after waking from the surgery. He had already rung my husband by then to update him on the surgery. He was also in first thing the next morning (7ish) to see how I was doing. It is very evident that he takes personal pride in the outcome of the surgery and his dedication to patient care is unparalleled. Aftercare - He provides his patients with his WhatsApp number and responds quickly to any queries, even small ones. This was helpful as my skin reacted to the surgical tape and I had to message him on a Sunday morning. He then checked in with me for the next few mornings to ensure I was back on track. Had several post-op appointments where he monitored my healing. Thankfully I had no issues and healing was smooth-sailing – this, I believe, is purely attributable to Mr Blackburn’s care and skill during surgery. Results - I am very pleased with my results. I have never had breasts that look like this. I am a new person since the muscle repair and tummy tuck - I am now able to do things with a strength I never had before. I would not trust another surgeon with my cosmetic needs – Mr Blackburn is very experienced, very thorough and has fantastic results. He is also extremely considerate and wonderful to deal with.

Mr Blackburn was very kind, caring and professional throughout the whole process of my reconstruction operation. I felt reassured and comfortable with everything he suggested and explained. I had an immediate bilateral mastectomy with DIEP flap reconstruction (My breast surgeon did my mastectomy) and he did all the planning and reconstructions 4 months ago. My breast reconstruction is very good, it's so amazing how little the scar on my breast is. My tummy looks really good too and flat. I had a challenging 4-6 weeks post op and he always make sure I am ok via a phone call, a text message or seeing me every week. I met Mr Adam Blackburn in 2021 to discuss my mastectomy and diep flap reconstruction after being diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. I had so many questions about the procedure and obviously, how I would look post-surgery and he was wonderful! All my (many, many!) list of questions were answered in-person, on Zoom and email. Given that my diagnosis was in the midst of Covid I always felt I could contact him any time and he'd make himself available to reassure me. I had a further surgery to improve the symmetry after a year (as is customary) and also had a nipple reconstructed a few months afterwards. The result: marvellous - my new breast and nipple looks and feels just like the 'real thing'! Mr Blackburn has an excellent reputation and my healthcare team, nurse, imaging team and breast cancer surgeon continue to rate him highly for his superb reconstructive work and manner - bedside or in-person!

I had a lipoma removed from my shoulder. Dr Blackburn was professional, has a good bedside manner and the scar is minimal. Excellent skill which means I can hardly notice where the incision was. Came in for removal of a basal cell carcinoma. Larger than anticipated but he removed it without needing any form of skin graft and leaving a barely visible scar. The procedure was entirely painless, the after care first class and everything was explained comprehensively in simple terms. Adam Blackburn would be my first choice for any surgery of this sort. He could not have been better. From the start of my breast reduction journey to the end of it at 6 months, Mr Blackburn's calm manner, explanations and surgical work has been exemplary. After being diagnosed with breast cancer I was referred to Adam Blackburn by my oncologist for a DIEP flap reconstruction. I cannot praise Adam enough for his skill and artistry with the original reconstruction, the symmetrizing surgery of my other breast and finally the nipple reconstruction he carried out for me. I am absolutely delighted with my "new body". Adam's expertise gave me my smile back after the trauma of a cancer diagnosis and my body confidence has been restored. Aside from being a fantastic surgeon, Adam also has an exceptional approach with his patients. The relationship between a cancer patient and surgeon could be one akin to "victim" and "saviour", but Adam never acted like that. I recently had a Lipoma removed by Mr Blackburn. This was a minor operation in comparison to some of the surgeries he performs but he was no less attentive and went over the process with me during the first meeting and then again prior to going to theatre. Before the anaesthetic made sure I had no more questions or concerns. Following the operation he checked again that all was ok and left me feeling very reassured. Nothing was too much trouble for him and I really felt I was in safe hands. I have no reservation in recommending Mr Blackburn and should I ever need surgery for something more extensive, he would be my first choice. |
